Top Three Treats

Expect more videos on my channel coming soon. Time to start working on all those New Year's Resolutions, huh?
Hello July!

And with that 2017 is already half over. Can you believe it‽ I sure can't. But I thought I'd celebrate this month with a super quick video of my top three treats from June.

See you popsicles soon!

Another Traveling Song

Planes. Trains. Taxi Cabs.

Salutations Sweethearts!

Ready for a shocker? I haven't posted on here in TWO years. What?! How in the world did that happen? Clearly I've been too obsessed with Instagram and Snapchat to bother with the blog. It seems like every time I sat down to doodle, I got that travelling itch again. I don't think I'll ever get rid of that tickle but hopefully I'll get better at working while I travel. And with a trip back to El Salvador in less than two weeks, I think I have the perfect chance to try. I can't wait to update all of you on what I have in the works.

See you soon [ promise ] ,

Good Day Tasty Treats!

Now if you were expecting me to say "a belly full of donuts," you will be highly disappointed. Don't worry, so am I. Alas, I have no had the chance to get some scrumptious treats this day. I did get to snack on a delicious tofu salad at the cafe I'm typing this right now. And painting a yummy donut counts as celebrating National Donut Day, doesn't it? Let's go with yes.

Soon this little doodle shall be turned into a card. Probably for Valentine's Day, but it's never too soon for my favourite holiday, now is it? Having recently moved to Brooklyn, I have found myself with plenty of inspiration and time to get some work cranked out! Expect a new stock at the Etsy store and maybe more social media updates.

See you soon sugars,
Helen

Belated Mother's Day

Better late than never

Good day dandelions!

It's the day after Mother's Day and I realised I was having too much fun slash running around too much to even make a quick post. Being late runs in the family anyway, so it's only fitting. Out of all the holidays, Mother's Day has always been one of my favourites. I was lucky enough to be gifted with the best mother in all of history. It's a fact. With my endless energy and spontaneous nature I'm not the easiest child to keep up with, but by some unearthly power my mother has been able to catch up. This woman has stood by all my less than logical decisions and has managed to eventually smile through every one. Whenever someone has asked my why I have such a positive and upbeat nature I only have to point to my mother for an answer. She always taught me to be the light. She did name me Helen after all. So this is my thank you, Vieja. Thank you for dealing with me. I know it's been harder than it should be, but you've gotten through it like a champ.

If there was one song that could sum up my past year perfectly, it would be this song. With graduating college and striving to make it as an illustrator and constantly getting inspired as a preschool teacher and hostel receptionist, it's safe to say that I have a buzzing head full of teeny tiny creative honey bees. I can't wait to start getting some sweet images out to the world for you!

Time sure flies

How in the world did this happen? I've been missing from social media for months! Let's blame one too many jobs, okay? As lovely jobs as they are, alas, it is finally time for me to move on and spin things around. I'm currently planning a pretty exciting move to NYC. As a homegrown East Coast kid, I can't wait to be back. I've never been one to call a place "home," but I certainly have always felt most comfortable closer to the Atlantic Ocean. And moving to the place I used to admire from the other side of the George Washington in New Jersey couldn't be more of a dream come true. Now let's hope everything falls into place. Let's keep our fingers crossed, shall we? I want to hear about your lives! What are you lovely darlings up to? Leave comments below.

Toodles Time Travelers,

With the woman that sparked my love.

Bet you would never guess but...

I'm madly in love with Peter Pan. It's been a life long affection and obsession, really. So obviously when I heard that the TCAP was going to premiere the Peter Pan ballet I just had to get tickets. And of course, I had to invite my mother with me as her birthday present. She was the first one to introduce me to my soul mate after all. I grew up to her making up bedtime stories filled with Peter and his adventures with Tiger Lily. She would even throw in a few stories about Captain Hook here and there. If this ballet stops by in your town, I highly recommend it. There is something special here!

I'm still madly in love with space.

Greetings my Gorgeous Galaxies,
Whenever someone asks me what inspires me, more times than not, I say children and space. To be more specific today, the eternal child living inside Commander Hadfield. If I could have a pocket version of him to cheer me up on gloomy days...well, I wouldn't have any gloomy days, now would I?

Gotta jet!

Why Hello, My Sweet Sundaes,

My very first art show in Nashville has come and gone. I must say it was a blast! I met several charming people that I hope to keep in contact with. And maybe best of all, I got to see friends I hadn't seen in months and even years.

Now I'm back in the studio with hopes of getting into a couple of more craft fairs and gallery shows. Fingers crossed, eh?

I have added loads of new things into the shop. Feel free to have a look-see. Also, if you would like to be added to my brand-spanking new mailing list, send me a line.

Yours Truly,
Helen
The song of the day today is one of my current favourite songs. I might be a little Chicago-Sick. I am starting to miss its lovely sun-kissed-tourist-filled self. Let's hope I can get into a gallery up there. Even if it's only to see some friends. I miss them the most.

...Only for a moment

Ahoy Gallant Pirates,
As a gigantic fan of Peter Pan, it must come as no surprise my immense dislike for Wendy Darling. I even made one of my videos this month based on this opinion. But as usual, the incredible people of the internet have shown me that there are always two sides of an opinion. I was pointed towards the talented S. J. Tucker's delightful "The Wendy Trilogy." This made me rethink my disdain  for Wendy. I'm afraid that she still doesn't rank high in my book, but I must admit she's higher than before. Green-Eyed Sued, however, well, she might be rivaling Peter Pan, himself. If you curious people have 18:51 minutes to spare, I highly recommend giving it a hearie. I would love to know your thoughts.
In a while Crocodile,
Helen

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
